As a newly qualified pharmacist, the idea of locuming after graduation is both exciting and daunting. Whether you're looking to gain experience, explore different pharmacy settings, work around travel plans, or simply earn some extra income, locum work can offer a world of opportunities.

However, before you dive into the world of locuming, there are several essential steps you will need to take to ensure a smooth start to your locum career. In this guide, we'll walk you through the key aspects of getting started as a locum pharmacist with Clarity Locums.

Setting Up Your Clarity Locums Account

The first step to booking locum shifts is to set up an account with Clarity Locums. To get started, download the Clarity Locums app, or register on our website. You will need to provide your location, personal details, and PSI number. 

*If you already have a 'Pre-Reg / Technician' account with Clarity Locums, email our team with your information and they can update you to a 'Pharmacist' account!

Once you've verified your account, it's time to start uploading your documents! There are several mandatory documents and information you will need to provide in order for your account to be eligible to book shifts. Here's a checklist of what you'll need:

  • PSI Certificate (Photo)
  • Passport and Proof of Eligibility to Work
  • Your CV
  • HSELand Children First Certificate
  • Bank Details (BIC and IBAN)
  • PPS Number
  • Current Address (for Tax Reasons)

Documents can be uploaded in the 'My Documents' section of your Clarity Locums profile.

When getting ready to become a locum pharmacist In Ireland, one of the first things you'll need to do is undergo Garda vetting. Garda vetting is a background check conducted by An Garda Síochána, and is a standard requirement for all healthcare professionals, including pharmacists!
