Ultimate Guide to Garda Vetting

In order to book shifts with Clarity Locums, we will require a few documents from you to verify your account. One requirement we need is for you to be Garda vetted. At Clarity, you can complete the Garda Vetting process for free - with no obligation to start locuming once the vetting process is complete!

The estimated time for the process is between 10 working days to 2 weeks, however, sometimes it can take longer. You will be able to view your status online during the check. Here’s everything you will need to do and what you can expect:

Step 1: Completing the NVB1 Form

When you register for Clarity Locums, our compliance team will get in touch with you via email, asking that you complete the NVB1 form and send it back to us. Alongside this form, you will need to present documents that prove your identity.

Proving your identity is done by making up at least 100 points on the Employment Recruitment Federation’s (ERF’s) identity verification point-based system. The easiest way to do this is to provide a scanned copy of:

  • A passport or Irish driver’s licence (to prove your identity)
  • A household utility bill* or a bank statement (to prove your address) - both of which must be dated within the last 6 months, and have an address which matches the address on your NBV1 form. *Mobile phone bills are not accepted.

You can view the identity verification point-based system here.

Please note: At least one document needs to be a photo ID, and one needs to prove your address.

Step 2: Identity Verification

Once you have sent us the correct documentation and completed form, our HR or compliance team will schedule a 5 minute video call with you, to further verify your identity. For this, you will be required to hold up your passport or official ID to the screen for verification, so be sure to have this ready when taking the call.

When this call is complete, we will then send your application to the ERF. You will receive an email from the ERF (to the email address you provide on the NVB1 form), containing a link to the NVB2 form, which you must fill in.

Step 3:  NVB Check

After completing and submitting the NVB2 form to the ERF, your application will be sent to the National Vetting Bureau (NVB), who will conduct the check. Once the application is with the NVB there is nothing the ERF or the Clarity compliance team can do to speed up the process or find out the details of the check. We can only view the application status.

Once the check has been completed, and the NVB has issued your disclosure, we will notify you and upload this onto your Clarity Locums profile.

You are then eligible to start working with Clarity Locums!

Top tips before you begin your Garda Vetting process:

  • When completing the form, make sure to tick the consent box at the bottom of the form.
  • Forms must be completed by hand, not digitally.
  • Forms must be legible.
  • Under the section 'Organisation', you should put 'Clarity Locums'.
  • Under the section 'Role being vetted for', you should put 'Locum Pharmacist/Nurse/GP/technician'.
  • The quicker all documents are returned correctly and the NVB2 form is completed, the more likely it is to receive the disclosure in a timely manner.
