2024 NMBI Registration Now Open

Important update for agency nurses!

NMBI Registration Renewals

Did you know the 2024 annual NMBI registration renewal window is open from 25 October 2023 to 31 January 2024? It is a requirement for all nurses and midwives practising in Ireland to have their name on the Register of Nurses and Midwives, which is maintained by the NMBI. Each year, it’s important to pay the annual renewal to maintain their registration. This is with the exception of student nurses and midwives who are not required to renew. Any nurses or midwives who have registered for the first time, on or after 1st September 2023, do not need to renew their registration until the 2025 annual renewal cycle.

How to Renew Your Registration

Registrants can expect renewal notices to be emailed to them and the email will contain details on how you can renew. If you notice you did not receive the email, try checking your spam, junk or other email folders.

There is a helpful customer care line on 0818200116 if you haven’t received the email by 31st October. For nurses or midwives renewing from outside Ireland, the number is +353 818 200 116. This line is open Monday to Friday 9-5pm.

There is also an email nurses and midwives can contact on [email protected] for further support. To help the customer care to deal with your query more efficiently, it is a good idea to have your Personal Identification Number (PIN) and date of birth.

MyNMBI portal is the most common method that can be used to renew your registration with the NMBI. Due to the large number of registrants who need to renew with NMBI, please note that there may be times when the MyNMBI portal is slower processing details and payment, as a result of a high level of usage at any one time. It is suggested to log out and come back to the portal later if this is experienced. Peak usage tends to be in the evenings from 6 to 7pm.

How to Use my NMBI

As MyNMBI is mobile enabled, it is less paper driven, faster and more convenient to access the range of services. To get the best user experience it is still recommended registrants use a laptop or desktop to renew their registration.

Step 1:

Log into MyNMBI using the email address the notice was sent to and your password. If you cannot remember your password, the ‘forgotten password’ button can be utilised and steps followed to reset your password. It is advised to not create a new account or you will not be able to access your details. If this is your first time logging into MyNMBI, please refer to your renewal notice and the First Time Login User Guide.

Step 2:

The following is needed to complete the process:

  • The renewal notification sent to you by email
  • Your password
  • Employment details (if employed)
  • A valid debit or credit card

If you have any difficulties in renewing online, please contact customer care either by phone or email.
