Clarity is recruiting for a Lead Superintendent Pharmacist for one of the biggest independent Pharmacies in Scotland

What you need to know:

Headquartered in Stirlingshire, the Company has grown to 41 Pharmacies over the last 23 years. The client now seeks to recruit for a new role of Lead Superintendent Pharmacist, a role currently  performed by one of the owner/directors. The Lead Superintendent will be supported by an  experienced Deputy Superintendent.  

In order to meet the clients minimum criteria, you will need to be passionate about Pharmacy and  have a hunger for success to help to continue to improve and grow the business. Our clients Pharmacy teams will be fundamental to this growth and a lead  Superintendent will need to be a good communicator and leader to ensure the clients pharmacy  and support teams are confident facing up to the challenges that the future will bring. 

Full time position over 5 days and one day per week will be RP and 4 days will be field based or office based



What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining an adequate supply of medications and pharmaceutical products.
  • Managing and coordinating pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensuring full compliance with relevant UK pharmacy laws, regulations, and guidelines, including the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation, including controlled drug registers.
  • Implementing and monitoring medication safety protocols to minimise medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
  • Ensuring the appropriate storage and handling of medications to maintain their efficacy and safety.
  • Clinical Services:
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and drug information.
  • Monitoring patient drug therapy and participating in clinical rounds as necessary.
  • Providing guidance and training to pharmacy staff on best practices, safety measures, and new medications or technologies.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest developments in pharmacy practice.
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance and improvement programs to enhance the delivery of pharmaceutical care.
  • Conducting regular audits to ensure the accuracy of dispensing and compliance with protocols.
  • Managing the pharmacy department's budget, including procurement, cost control, and financial planning.
  • Ensuring effective communication with patients, their families, and healthcare providers regarding medication use, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
  • Developing and maintaining emergency and disaster preparedness plans for the pharmacy.
  • Providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to pharmacy staff to enhance their professional development and performance.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices to optimise pharmacy services.


What we require:

Essential:

  • GPHC registered Pharmacist 
  • Excellent knowledge of community pharmacy, the national pharmacy contract in  Scotland and private pharmacy services 
  • Proven experience of leadership and results within your career to date - Exceptional networker and relationship builder with external bodies - Able to commit to travel across Scotland on a regular basis 
  • Full UK driving licence  

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a Superintendent role 
  • Independent Prescriber
